David Marchant is in the process of producing a film, funded by the Arts Council of Wales, called, 'Give me some Space-man'. The idea for this came from his children falling asleep whilst the video recorder had ended in their bedroom, producing a flat sound.
'Give me some Space man' will journey the viewer into a conceptual narrative space with a phenomenological effect. The final film will be projected onto three screens in a triangular format accompanied by 5.1-surround sound using various forms of organic white noise. Images of a spaceman are transmitted intermittently through the white noise onto the screens. The visor images and white noise on and around the spaceman depict the suffocating post-modern environment and typifies our current condition. Our TV eyes are exaggerated, confused and over stimulated to add to the lack of the real in this age of confusion. Spaceman and white noise is a purified simulation of how it is:- 'Give me some space man', this is how it is'.
